Aboriginal Flag.
Often displayed alongside the Australian National Flag and Torres Strait Islander Flag, we can supply the Aboriginal flag in a wide variety of sizes and finishes. Please select from the options listed. Please note that all of our flag prices INCLUDE express nationwide delivery, and GST, so that there are no hidden surprises at the checkout.
Flags are available fully sewn, which is where the design is appliqued on to a quality backing material, screen printed on defence-grade woven polyester, or digitally printed on a lightweight knitted polyester. They are available with header band and flag clips (“header and loops”) for flying from a flagpole, or with a sleeve for poles with no halyard.
To order your flag, please select your chosen size, finish and material from the drop down boxes below.
The flag was designed in 1971 by Aboriginal artist Harold Thomas, who is descended from the Luritja people of Central Australia. Mr. Thomas holds the intellectual property rights to the flag’s design. The flag was originally designed for the land rights movement, and it became a symbol of the Aboriginal people of Australia.
Black – represents the Aboriginal people of Australia
Yellow circle – represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector
Red – represents the red earth, the red ochre used in ceremonies and Aboriginal peoples’ spiritual relation to the land.
